1963
During his opening speech, President Kennedy speaks of strengthening education in Central America.

1963
On March 18, President John F. Kennedy visits Costa Rica and holds a conference with the presidents of Central America. In his opening discourse President Kennedy speaks of strengthening education in Central America. In April 10 he writes to George Baker, dean of the HBS, requesting that he investigate the possibility of establishing a program of administration in Central America. In June 15, the USAID (ROCAP) – Harvard Business School signed a contract to establish INCAE as a permanent graduate school of business administration.

1964
During July 1 – August 7, INCAE organizes its First Advanced Management Program (AMP) in Antigua, Guatemala, with 45 participants. This is the first public event of INCAE. Dean George P. Baker of Harvard delivers the inaugural discourse and in the closing ceremony the founding act is signed.


1965
New AMP are held in Panama, El Salvador and Costa Rica. INCAE’s first network of graduates was consolidated.

1966
On October 24, Montefresco in Nicaragua, is chosen for INCAE’s first Campus location, thanks to generous contributions from the business sector and several Nicaraguan families.
INCAE is featured in the title and table of contents of the report The Harvard Business School – INCAE Project 1963 – 1966.

1967
On January 1, Clark Wilson becomes the first President of INCAE.
Dean Baker of Harvard attends the groundbreaking ceremony of INCAE on July 1 and the INCAE library begins with 459 books chosen by Baker Library of the Harvard Business School on August 28.

1969
On June 19, on the occasion of the first graduation of the master’s program, the board of directors and members of the national committees meet with Dr. George P. Baker and professors of the HBS and the rector and professors of INCAE.
Inauguration of the campus of INCAE is held on June 20. The first graduation ceremony of INCAE (MAE I) with 29 graduates takes place on June 21.
1968
On January 8, the first Masters Program in Business Administration (MAE I) begins with 42 students from six countries. The students are lodged in the Hotel Lido Palace in Managua while the classes are given in the Central Bank. On July 1 Ernesto Cruz becomes the second rector of INCAE. The first USAID (ROCAP) – Harvard Business School contract ends on October 15 but the support for INCAE continued under another contract.
