Outstanding events
1970
First executive program outside of Central America, the PAG IX, takes place in Medellín, Colombia.
On June 13, George P. Baker, Dean Emeritus of the Harvard Business School, receives the doctor honoris causa degree during the MAE II Graduation ceremony with 18 graduates from seven countries.
On October 7, submission of the Termination Report by Charles H. Savage Jr., first academic director of INCAE.

1977
George F.F. Lombard, Senior Associate Dean of the Harvard Business School receives the Doctor Honoris Causa degree at the MAE IX graduation (June 18).


1975
On July, the first AMP (PAG XVIII) takes place in the Caribbean, in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic.
1979
In May, INCAE celebrates the MAE XI graduation ahead of schedule to avoid exposing students to the increasing insecurities that arose from the civil war.
In October, the Revista INCAE begins publication.


1974
The Public Management program begins. In July, the first Andean AMP takes place in Ibarra, Ecuador.
Two new concentrations were added to the Master’s program: Banking and Development Finance, introduced as an answer to the rising needs for planning and management of the region’s public sector.

1973
On January 5, INCAE publishes the study Preliminary Evaluation of Damages Caused by the Earthquake that was instrumental in bringing foreign aid to Nicaragua. The Advisory Center; contract with the government of Nicaragua, with the aid of the Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID) gets created in March.
The Administration of Family Planning and Development Banking and Finance programs begin.
1972
On June 30, USAID grants INCAE US$3.9 million loan, payable over forty years. The USAID contract with Harvard ends; advisory relations HBS-INCAE are established by means of a permanent advisory committee. On December 23, an earthquake devastates, from this tragedy came INCAE’s first think-tank, the Assessment Center, dedicated initially to collaborate with the government to rebuild the city.

1971
On June 11, Francisco de Sola receives the Distinguished Service Award from the Harvard Business School Association partly because of his role in establishing INCAE.
On October, the first permanent librarian of INCAE, Thomas Bloch arrives on campus.
