Outstanding events
1983
On January 14, the government of Costa Rica authorizes the donation of the property where the Alajuela Racquet Club is located, to INCAE. USAID makes a donation to INCAE to establish the library in Costa Rica. This was followed by donations from the IADB (Inter-American Development Bank) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation. In September, Walter Kissling Gam, Costa Rican businessman, assumes the presidency of the board of directors of INCAE after the passing of Francisco de Sola, founder and Chairman. In October, the MAE XVI begins in Costa Rica.

1984
The programs Management of Cooperatives and Bank Administration begin. In January, the MAE XVII (first year) begins in Costa Rica.
The inauguration of the Central American Institute of Business Administration, INCAE, Alajuela, Costa Rica takes place on April 1, during the event, Luis Alberto Monge, President of Costa Rica, 1982-1986, receives the doctor honoris causa degree.
On January 23, Ecuador becomes a member country of INCAE. A concentration of Exports Management was added

1987
On June 27, Marc Lindenberg, rector of INCAE, 1982-1987, receives the doctor honoris causa degree.
On September 12, Melvyn Copen becomes the fifth president of INCAE. The Master of Business Economics program begins in Costa Rica. In November, INCAE and the Catholic University with the support of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) of the United States, offers the first of three MBA programs in Asunción, Paraguay.

The Training Political Leaders program begins.


1985
In June, the first Program for University Professors takes place in Costa Rica.

1988
On January 15-16, for the first time a Central American presidential summit is held at INCAE, Costa Rica.
Oscar Arias, Nobel Peace Prize 1987, president of Costa Rica, 1986-1990 and 2006-2010, receives the doctor honoris causa degree and delivers the commencement address at the graduation of MAEXX on June 25.


1982
In January, Marc Lindenberg becomes the fourth president of INCAE. On May 4, INCAE establishes in Costa Rica through an Agreement with the Costa Rican Government.
On December 3, the campus of Montefresco in Nicaragua is named Francisco de Sola Campus (FdS).
1981
In January, Harry Strachan becomes the third president of INCAE.
