Outstanding events

 

2013

The Financial Times Global MBA ranking places INCAE in the position number 90 (among 100). On May 3-4, INCAE Business School and the Inter-American Development Bank held the Central America Forum in Costa Rica. The Forum was attended by the presidents of Central America and on Saturday, May 4, by the president of the United States, Barack Obama. The president of INCAE, Arturo Condo, led the presentation of the recommendations of the Forum to the president of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla, President Obama and other guests.

In July it is established the Harry Strachan INCAE Chair in Philanthropy and Social Investment. 

Susana de Sola Funsten makes a gift to the INCAE MBA Oath Club in name of Francisco de Sola, her father and founder of INCAE. 

2007

The inauguration of the Manuel Jiménez de la Guardia Classroomtook place in March 9 and the inauguration of the Huber Garnier O. Classroom on May 2.

Arturo Condo becomes the eighth president of INCAE.

On July 13, the inauguration of the Corporation CEFA and Norval Garner Oreamuno Clinic, takes place at the Campus Francisco de Sola, Nicaragua.

On October 11, the Presentation of the book INCAE Memories 1979-1982, written by Harry W. Strachan, takes places at the Francisco de Sola Campus.

Inauguration of the Juan U. Maegli and Grupo Tecún Classroom, Campus Walter Kissling Gam, Costa Rica on November 22.

2002

On February 21, the campus of INCAE Costa Rica receives the name of Campus Walter Kissling Gam.

On September 12 an agreement is signed with LASPAU (organization affiliated with Harvard University and the OAS) by which scholarships are awarded to outstanding Latin American students.

A Central American presidential summit is held at INCAE, Costa Rica in September 26. The Student Academic Center “F. Alfredo Pellas”, with study rooms donated by Central American companies, is inaugurated at the Francisco de Sola Campus.

2003

In July 18, celebrations to commemorate forty years of INCAE begin with the meeting of the national committees in Antigua, Guatemala. In this meeting INCAE receives the “Orden Rafael Landívar, the highest decoration that the city awards. Forty years before, Antigua had declared the members of the first Advanced Management Program of INCAE as guests of honor. On August 15, the magazine AméricaEconomía ranks INCAE as number one in their annual ranking of Latin American business schools. On October 5, INCAE establishes the Walter Kissling Gam Chair. INCAE signs its first agreements to offer double degrees, with the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University (May), ESADE (May) and Leipzig Graduate School of Management (December).

2006

In January, Carlos Pellas commits to give $2.5 million in scholarship to students who want to take their master’s degree at INCAE in Nicaragua. In March 21, INCAE and the Poma Foundation sign an agreement that creates the Foundation Poma Chair for the relief of poverty in the Central American region.

Inmobiliaria Cobirsa Classroom is inaugurated.

INCAE joins the Latin American Case Consortium (LACC), established to coordinate and share translations of Harvard Business School cases among the member schools. 

2009

Second Founders' Circle Event, Antigua, Guatemala takes place on April 23.

The international classification of business schools of the Financial Times Executive Education places INCAE within the 50 business schools with the best executive education in the world.

On July 30, the inauguration of the Duilio Baltodano Pallais Cafeteria, takes place at the FdS Campus, Nicaragua.

On December 10, the signing of the Steve Aronson - INCAE Agreement, creates the Steve Aronson Chair of Agribusiness Strategy with a $1 million donation from Mr. Aronson, Campus WKG, Costa Rica.

2001

The Graduation of the MAE XXXVII as the only master’s program offered in Costa Rica.

In December, President Gustavo Noboa of Ecuador visit campus of INCAE in Costa Rica. During this occasion the government of Ecuador awarded INCAE the Order of Knight’s Merit, for the contributions of INCAE to that nation.

2004

In January 26, for the first time INCAE appears in the Financial Times’ ranking of the most important MBA programs with international experience. In March 31, INCAE receives accreditation EQUIS of the European Foundation for Management Development. Also in May, the Student Academic Center “Alberto y Roberto Motta C.”, with study rooms donated by Central America companies, is inaugurated at the Campus Walter Kissling Gam, Costa Rica. Presentation of the Fund for Academic Development Luis Poma and inauguration of the Luis Poma Forum, Campus Walter Kissling Gam, Costa Rica takes place in May 21. For the second consecutive year, the magazine AméricaEconomía ranks INCAE as number one in its annual ranking of the business schools of Latin America.

 

2005

On May 21, Alberto Motta Cardoze and Roberto Motta Cardoze, Panamanian businessmenn and Alfredo F. Pellas Ch., Nicaraguan businessman, receive the doctor honoris causa degree at the graduation of MAE XLV.

On September 12, a Central American presidential summit is held at INCAE, Costa Rica. 

The “Carlos F. Pellas” Classroom is inaugurated on October 7 at the Francisco de Sola Campus. On October 21, BATCCA (British American Tobacco Caribbean & Central America) – INCAE signed agreement that establishes the “BATCCA Chair of Social Enterprise and Social Corporate Enterprise Responsibility”.

 

2010

In March 4, highlights the presentation of the book INCAE Business School: Los primeros 45 años: Visión y pasión written by Raúl E. Barragán and Roberto Artavia Loría, with the collaboration of Róger Quant. The Financial Times Executive Education international ranking places INCAE within the 60 business schools with the best executive education.

The World Bank announces its support of a program managed by INCAE that will strengthen the capabilities of Central American civil servants . The Financial Times EMBA ranking places INCAE in the position number 80.

2011

The first module of the Program of Regional Economic Integration (PIER) begins on January 24. It is a joint undertaking of INCAE Business School, the World Bank, the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Spain and the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern, Switzerland.

The Financial Times Global MBA ranking places INCAE among the Top 100 business schools.

First Cocktail event at Jean Kennedy Smith's home to promote the Illuminate Campaign.

2000

Designation of the Campus Francisco de Sola, Nicaragua, as permanent site of the executive master’s program.

In July 12 the inauguration of the Residential Building No. 8 takes place at the Francisco de Sola Campus. Carlos Pellas delivers the inaugural address. The Social Enterprise Knowledge Network, SEKN, was created in Alliance with Harvard University and leading regional universities, to promote entrepreneurship and social responsibility among the region’s leaders.

 

2012

The Illuminate Campaign launches in the region and the U.S. 

The INCAE Alumni Magazine launches in January. The Financial Times Global MBA ranking places INCAE in the position number 76 (among 100) while appearing among the top ten business schools of the world in two areas: corporate strategy and economics, as rated by alumni of these schools for the Financial Times.

Roberto Artavia Loría assumes the presidency of the Board of Directors of INCAE. Carlos Pellas Ch. is nominated as Vice President.

Brizio Biondi-Morra named President Emeritus of the Board of Directors on March 6.

Franklin Chang Díaz, Costa Rican astronaut, receives the doctor honoris causa degree at MBA 2012 graduation on May 18.

2008

Arturo Condo, president of INCAE, is chosen as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. First event of the Founders’ Circle, Embassy of Nicaragua, Washington, D.C. takes place in March 27. Among the guests were George Cabot Lodge, professor emeritus of the Harvard Business School and instrumental in the founding of INCAE and Jean Kennedy Smith, sister of John F. Kennedy. In October 2, inauguration of the Argüello Arellano Forum and homage in honor of Dr. Xavier Argüello Carazo at the Campus Francisco de Sola, Nicaragua. Homage to Werner Ketelhöhn Escobar, unveiling of the plaque in the park that bears his name, Campus Francisco de Sola, Nicaragua takes place in October 3.
